During Fire Prevention week the Department turns its attention to educating the school kids on the benefits of fire prevention. Volunteers go into the schools and give talks to the kids on such things as home hazards, stop, drop and roll, planning an escape, testing smoke alarms, as well as conducting fire drills. Contests are also held to determine a Fire Chief for a day sponsored by McDonalds Restaurants.
